Terms of Service

⚠ This is a starting template, not legal advice. Have an actual lawyer review this before it governs a paid product — especially the liability and disclaimer sections, since this service touches wildfire/evacuation information where the stakes of a wrong or late alert are high.

What this service is

This service provides informational air quality and wildfire proximity alerts for locations you save, based on publicly available data from the EPA's AirNow program and the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC).

Not a substitute for official emergency information

This service is not an official emergency notification system. Evacuation orders, levels, and zones are determined solely by county sheriffs and emergency management agencies. Always follow official guidance from your county's emergency alert system, local news, and law enforcement — never rely on this service alone for evacuation decisions. Data may be delayed, incomplete, or temporarily unavailable.

Subscription and billing

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe. You may cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation stops future billing but does not refund the current billing period. [Fill in your actual refund policy here.]

No warranty

This service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of AQI, fire, or evacuation-related information, all of which originates from third-party sources (EPA AirNow, NIFC, county governments) outside our control.

Limitation of liability

[This section in particular needs a lawyer. A wildfire alert service has real stakes if someone claims they relied on a missed or delayed alert. Don't ship this section as placeholder text.]
